Burra Sea 2

burra

This work honours the Burra, or longfin eel, found along the east coast of NSW and Victoria. Born in the deep Coral Sea, they journey thousands of miles to grow in rivers, creeks, and wetlands before returning to their birthplace decades later to spawn. The prints capture their resilience, adaptability, and enduring connection to place, offering lessons on survival and belonging.

Creation

This work imagines creation as flowing ribbons of energy, weaving waves that shaped life, culture, and knowledge. It reflects on how science, art, ceremony, and storytelling intertwine, keeping Aboriginal culture vibrant and connected to ancestors, Country, and identity. Through art—ancient and contemporary—stories of land, water, space, and spirit are passed on, ensuring these knowledges endure and evolve for future generations.
